Shooting in the studio

Recently I've started a new photo project working with local punk rockers, The Getmines who are recording their new album at Empire Records of Canada.  Something I've always wanted to do is work with a band shooting and documenting the process from recording an album to playing it live!  It's my own version of photo journalism in the underground punk scene that is very much still thriving in Vancouver.

Meeting Jesse Death who is the studio manager for Empire Records of Canada, and Connor, I settled in and quietly took a bunch of shots when Dave was scratching some guitar for the bed tracks.  I managed to move about the studio without disturbing the process too much and interrupting Dave's concentration.

The studio is a little hole in the wall, but screams punk and grass roots recording.

There is this great vibe of creativity, filth, and disparity, that absolutely compliments the genre!

I'm looking forward to following The Getmines through the recording process and looking forward to maybe working with some other Empire Records of Canada artists.  Either way, very cool little studio Jesse has and if you're a Punk or Rockabilly artist or band, contact them for rates and possibly signing to the label.
