Ugly Men Show, Ayotte's Ayotte Kit, and Servo

On March 19th, at the Media Club in Vancouver, BC, Canada, a three piece band that goes by the name "Ugly Men" had their Album release party and I was invited to come shoot.  On the bill was 4 bands; No Operator, Quartered, Ugly Men and Exes for Eyes.  All the sets were high octane, energetic, and loud!  I've shot shows and sometimes the 3 song limit seems like forever, but with all these guys, a 45 minute set just screamed by, which I shot the whole time.  Big thanks to Jonathan Wu from Ugly Men for having me down.  Aside from the Primus type grooves, I was treated to a great cover of Motorhead's Ace of Spades!  Check them out!

On March 6th I was invited out to Falconetti's on Comercial Drive in Vancouver, BC to shoot  Van City Soul Quartet's new line up for 2015.  I was surprised and happy to see an old friend Ray Ayotte drumming with them.  I met Ray years ago when our bands at the time played a show together.  He's a class act and always enjoy chatting with him.  Here is a shot of his small stage kit that seems to have people talking!

And here is a promo shot I did for a band that calls themselves Servo.  Great group of guys and I am really digging their album as I can hear the influences of Deep Purple, Yes, Hendrix, Cream, Sabbath all mixed in there with an assortment of others!  Check them out when you get the chance at  https://servoband.bandcamp.com/

I can't believe it's already March and I'm just updating my site!  Where did the past 2 months go?  I guess it's better to stay busy, and busy I am these days.  Still getting settled into the new house and unpacking.  I have my studio pretty much laid out and semi functioning with the edit bays up and working now.  Now just have to clear out some room and get the back drops in place to start using the space as I wanted it for, shooting!

Well the beginning of my year has been a fast paced world of activity with the day gig to pay bills and family life.  Given we have been very fortunate this year to not really have a winter, I've been taking advantage of that to do some offroading with the family in our jeep.  My partner in life is the chief photographer on those adventures while I hold down the driving duties.  Few trips out and we are finding it a great way to explore and be one with nature.

As for my concert and band photography, I've been keeping busy working on shoots for Sally and the Melohearts, Servo, and fielding inquiries to do some other work during the spring for some indie bands.  I've got a few things in the hopper to keep me busy in March and already booking into April for upcoming shows!

Well back to the editing then bed for tonight!  Update again soon!  Cheers!
